Impact On Teesside (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) - Updates now offer many more choices than you may think…
2022 has been a year of big change at Impact on Teesside.
We have made some changes to the service in order to improve client experience and waiting times. At the start of the Impact contract in 2020 we began the service with an inherited waiting list of 6000 people with around 200 new referrals coming in each month on top of this. Since 2020, we have been working hard to reduce this list and improve the time that people wait to receive support.
There have been a couple of stand out changes that have made a big difference in the service and that we are particularly proud of:
1. Impact Resource Hub -
We have developed and launched our own self-help portal which is packed full of bespoke self-help materials such as videos, information and education, worksheets and much more. Clients are able to access the resource hub immediately following assessment and will continue to have access even after they are discharged. Our full range of group sessions are also available to watch on the hub so people can work through these independently or catch up if they miss a live session. Feedback so far indicates that the hub has improved people's experience of the service and helped them to cope better and make changes whilst waiting for 1:1 support to start
2. Workshop expansion -
We have rolled out a comprehensive groupwork offer which enables clients to take their first step into treatment much more quickly, in fact most people will be booked onto a group that starts within 4-8 weeks of their referral date. The groups provide information, education, tools and tips to start to understand what they're experiencing and to develop strategies to manage this. Following completion of a group, participants receive a review call to assess their needs and agree next steps. Some clients move onto 1:1 waiting lists following the group, whereas others do not need any further support and are discharged. This approach has led to a reduction of the numbers waiting for 1:1 support and a reduction of waiting times. Clients have fed back feeling more resilient and equipped to wait for 1:1 support following attendance at a group.
We have created some short Q & A audio recordings with more information about the resource hub and groupwork as well as additional information relating to other service areas.

(Please note, when we mention recovery rates in the audio, our target for this is 50% of people seen move out of clinical caseness based on outcome measures used).
